Nia Teague

Outdoor Inspiration Leader

Nia is thrilled to be an Outdoor Inspiration Leader for Girls+ Outside with Westcave Discovery Center. The land is a source of interconnection, joy, peace, and abundance, and this is something she can’t wait to share with the students of Girls+ Outside!

Her passion for nature began in the rural area she grew up in where she spent her summers tending her mother’s vegetable garden and caring for livestock with her father. This passion was reignited while working with Urban Roots and Hamilton Pool Farms. With these farms, Nia has been practicing and cultivating land stewardship through sustainable farming practices in direct service of her community.

She holds a Bachelors degree in Psychology with a minor in Politics, Law, & Social Thought and plans to pursue further education to research the ways that a connection to land can offer integral healing for one’s mind, body, and spirit. She hopes to one day develop her own farm centered around community care with a nature-based academy for children.

In her free time, you might find her tending to her community garden plot, getting caught up in a book, cooking for and with loved ones, or visiting a local farmers market.
