Kirstin Boyd-Farmer
Conservation Ranger
Kirstin began her journey here at Westcave Preserve in August of 2023 as a Conservation Intern. Since then, she has been promoted to Conservation Ranger and has greatly expanded her knowledge of sustainable land management, field research techniques, and native flora and fauna identification.
Once she graduates, Kirstin hopes to work with community leaders and community advocates to help ensure the City of Austin develops in a sustainable, environmentally conscious way. Conserving resources for all future Austinites. Her passion for the environment was apparent from an early age and because of this, she considers herself a global citizen with a responsibility to care for the Earth and its precious resources.
She is currently a senior at Texas State University majoring in Geography Resources and Environmental Studies with a minor in Sustainability Studies and will graduate this December. Her research focuses on Urban Heat Islands (UHI) and how we can mitigate their negative impacts by utilizing pragmatic, zero-carbon, and nature-based solutions.
