Dawn Houston

Dawn Romaine Houston is an avian biologist whose love for nature grew from her wanderings in the woods and along the beaches of Long Island, New York. Her interest in wildlife conservation led her to fieldwork across the country, but ultimately brought her to Central Texas to earn a Master of Science Degree in Wildlife Ecology at Texas State University in 2008. Since then, she has worked primarily with the endangered Golden-cheeked Warbler and the delisted Black-capped Vireo.

She co-founded, 7eco10 LLC, a consultancy aiming to assist landowners with conservation easement establishment and management. Dawn is currently pursuing a Ph.D. at Texas State University researching migratory songbird ecology in Central Texas. She continues to be fascinated by the intricate relationships between all wildlife and their environments and understands the steadfast need to protect our natural heritage. Dawn has been serving on the Westcave Preserve Conservation Committee since 2015 and enjoys leading bird walks and conducting avian surveys at the Preserve. She also serves on the Dripping Springs Charro Park Conservation Committee and is a steering member of the Dripping Springs Birding Club.
