NATURAL SCIENCE EDUCATOR
Laura has been actively engaged in both education and the environment for many years. She graduated from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio with a BA in botany and environmental sciences. As a student at Miami, Laura spent time in San Salvador Island in the Bahamas, where she aided in conducting research on coral reefs and studied the decline of these ecosystems. During college, she also developed a passion for sustainable food and understanding how that food is sourced. She has worked on several organic farms throughout both Ohio and Texas. Upon moving to the Austin area, Laura worked as an environmental educator for Camp Fire Central Texas, leading underserved middle school youth on outdoor excursions and teaching them about the natural world. Recently hired at Westcave, Laura is excited to spearhead a new, nature-based after-school program for fourth and fifth-grade students of the East Austin area.
